7 Arthur Miller was writing controversial works in controversial times. He wrote The Crucible during the very beginning of the Cold War and the Red Scare. Miller was a victim of anti- Semitism during his Jewish upbringing. He realized that he had to do something since no one else was willing to. He did this through his work The Crucible. Miller was eventually “black listed” after the publishing of this work. Arthur Miller was writing controversial works in controversial times.
