Self-concept Each of us has a different self-concept Your self-concept is the view you have of yourself Your self-concept starts forming when you are very young. Many factors influence your self-concept: – Parents – Teachers – Friends
Self-concept It may or may not mirror the way other people see you Having a positive self- concept is an important part of good mental/emotional health
Self-esteem Your self-esteem is a measure of how much you like and respect yourself Your self-esteem is closely related to your self- concept Having a positive self-concept will help you build a high level of self-esteem

Developing a Positive Self-Concept Have confidence in yourself and your abilities Accept encouragement Set a goal and work to reach it Develop realistic expectations (no one is perfect) Find friends that support and encourage you Avoid worrying about hurtful remarks or looks.
