3 Students are first instructed to create the shoebox diorama. Literacy Project From the Book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Social Science Project from the Alabama Course of Study: U.S. History/Presidents/Wars

4 Students were instructed to take their shoebox diorama and create a similar scenario using a word processing program: MS Word. This is basic only with no hyperlinks; use of pictures, “clip art” and text only.

7 Students were instructed to take their MS Word Diorama and create a Power Point Diorama using the same schema. They were instructed to use the hyperlink function to reinforce concepts within content areas. After a lesson on copyright laws pertaining to the use of online materials, the students were to use photographs they found online along with information they had gathered about the topic.

12 The students were instructed to develop their diorama another level into the realm of the world wide web. The students took their themes and created a web page on our Prism server that contained active links to online resources, activities, assessments, content-based references, etc. Their web pages were created using MS Front Page software. This was the birth of the E-Diorama.

14 The E-Diorama can be used across the curriculum and created at a variety of levels from Word Processing to Web Pages. The E- Diorama is instructional in nature used as a tool to teach Course of Study Objectives, Benchmarks, etc. It is an excellent method that allows students to express creativity at many levels of technological skill while showing mastery of a skill, comprehension of text, etc.
