What Is A Sixth Grade Team? Teams consists of four teachers who are responsible for math, science, social studies, or English Language Arts instruction. Students do not travel with same group of children to every class.

What Does A School Day Look Like? Homeroom Starts at 7:30 Seven Blocks (A – G) /Four Day Cycle Snack Break in Classroom Three Lunches – Mixed Grade Level Major Classes Meet Everyday Foreign Language, Literacy Lab (half year), STEM (half year), and Music Selection Meet Every Other Day Physical Education Meets Once Per Cycle School Day Ends at 2:00 Late Buses Start at 3:05
How Does The School Prepare for the Transition? Collecting and Processing Grade Six Course Selection Sheet Communication with Elementary Schools “Friendly Letters” Student Move-Up Day (May 22 nd ) Schedules, Lists of School Supplies, and Bus Routes Made Available in Mid-August School Tour Dates – Late August (Watch for more info)
What Happens On The First Day Of School? Come with a pen or pencil, notebook, snack, lunch or money, and a smile All Grade Six students will report directly to their homeroom (their A Block class) Full school day with an “adjusted schedule”
What Else is New? HMS 1:1 Chromebook Initiative Teachers have received device and are involved in professional development. Late August 2015 all grade six students will be issued an individual device. Students will bring devices home and to school each day.
