1 doc.: IEEE /0095r0 Submission March 2008 Cheng Shan, Samsung Electronics Slide 1 Introduction A WRAN system enquiries the geo-location database for the maximum allowed EIRPs on a set of frequency channels for each of its devices; The geo-location database stores the schedule of incumbent services, including service time and area; The WRAN could enquiry the database –when a device is powered up and then on a periodical basis, Usually, the incumbent service may only change after hours or even days; the WRAN system is also expected to query the database with similar frequency; –or, triggered by pre-defined events.

4 doc.: IEEE /0095r0 Submission March 2008 Cheng Shan, Samsung Electronics Slide 4 Suggested Remedy When the database returns the set of EIRP values upon the WRAN’s enquiry for one of its devices, it shall as well provide valid time information for the querying device; –This time information is the valid duration for the current query results, or when the status of the incumbent service is going to change at the location of the querying device; –The WRAN will send another query to database to update the EIRP information for the device when the valid duration timeout; Pros –Further reducing the interference risk when incumbent appears; –Saving sensing overheads; –Improving the spectrum efficiency when channels become available; –Improving the overall database enquiring efficiency with minor overhead;
