4 How is technology integrated into ERM?  The research mentor assists the teacher researcher in identifying a research question for school-based investigation. Email, video conferencing and tele-mentoring might supplement the face to face dialogue

5 How is technology integrated into ERM?  The research mentor assists the teacher to identify values, skills or understanding to develop to assist his/her CPD and actively participate in his/her school’s improvement. Digital technology as before – sessions may be videoed as context data.

6 How is technology integrated into ERM?  The research mentor assists the teacher with understanding various ways to collect data. This might include using digital video, MP3 recording, making movies to cut to DVD/CD.

8 How is technology integrated into ERM?  In the UK …… The research mentor assists the teacher in understanding how to satisfy MA level criteria, if such accreditation is sought for school-based enquiry. Alternatively/additionally mentor assists the mentee to prepare to email for GTCE/TLA recognition.

9 How is technology integrated into ERM?  The research mentor assists the teacher in learning to synthesis data into evidence to support any claims to have created knowledge. This may be by email, telementoring, face to face meetings and involve modelling techniques with web- based technology including Critical Thinking Scaffolds

10 How is technology integrated into ERM?  The research mentor assists the teacher in drafting a portfolio of evidence, ensuring the research methodology reflects a rigorous, validated process  The research mentor recommends academic literature and models critical engagement with suitable texts. Email, video conferencing, tele-mentoring supplement the face to face dialogue about web-based templates.

11 How is technology integrated into ERM?  The research mentor assists the teacher to in validating and disseminating research, e.g. through their own website, the university’s website, by creating an online link to the school website and submitting work to Becta etc.

12 How is ERM a two way process?  Potential for professional & personal development for the research mentor & teacher through collaborative enquiry.  Co-writing papers for publication and conference presentations and co-creating web-based snapshots.  Mutual learning about the use of technology in enabling systematic enquiry as a form of CPD that can inform and improve teaching in very different educational contexts.
