The temperature of the water always effects the air above it. If the water is warm the air temperature gets warmer. Example: The Gulf Stream’s water is warm. When the water washes up on England’s shore, it brings warm, muggy weather to England.

Gyres are many ocean currents rotating in a system. There are 5 main ocean gyres. images/student-web-project/ocean-current- 4.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.icit.hw.ac.uk/student_project/nicola 1.htm&usg=__RDCyqovKaJlG9n7A- Vf6mfdFl4s=&h=293&w=433&sz=28&hl=en&start=105&zoom=1&t bnid=L8sY0I0Zmvsh- M:&tbnh=139&tbnw=205&prev=/images%3Fq%3Docean%2Bcurre nt%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-us:IE- SearchBox%26rlz%3D1I7ADBR%26biw%3D1259%26bih%3D657%26 tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=937&ei=abCsTKL0LMW qngfCg5XhDA&oei=sq- sTLibHsT_lgeNkJHOBw&esq=3&page=8&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:10,s:105&tx=98&ty=55%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=937&ei=abCsTKL0LMW qngfCg5XhDA&oei=sq- sTLibHsT_lgeNkJHOBw&esq=3&page=8&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:10,s:105&tx=98&ty=55

It was called “the mightiest current in the ocean” by some people. This current is the only ocean current that circles the globe. It transports more water than any other ocean current.

climate.ncsu.edu/outreach/ccms/2003/ben_jon/Pictures/Gulf- Stream2.gif The Gulf Stream is an ocean current that runs from Florida, up to Canada, then across the Atlantic to England. It is a warm current and home to many sea creatures such as sharks, whales, and many fish. The arrows are the Gulf Stream (except it keeps going to England).

The Gulf Stream System is a mix of different ocean currents. 0b4.jpg

Put a message in an enclosed bottle that floats. Write your or some way for the person- if someone finds it- to get in contact with you. If you never get a note back that someone found your message, then you are very unlucky. It will be cool to see where it goes!

Stop putting our trash in the oceans. People and animals all over the world are finding them. This trash is killing animals worldwide! Go put your trash in the appropriate spot- a trash can. Also recycle your plastic bottles and paper.
