To Recap: Earlier North Carolina Crowdfunding Legislation Did Not Pass Proposed NC law contained defects: 1. Did not connect crowdfunding to support of existing companies. 2. Did not connect crowdfunding to broader state economic development goals. 3. Wrote too many rules and regulations into the law.
We Had Interviewed Representative Dwight Loftis, of South Carolina, About Their Proposed Crowdfunding Legislation. South Carolina does not cap the amount of capital a company can raise. South Carolina connects crowdfunding to regional economic development initiatives, supported by the South Carolina Department of Commerce. South Carolina offers tax benefits when and investor makes the initial investment, and later, if the investor re-invests profits back into South Carolina companies.
