10 Asset Based Community Development & Participatory Learning Action Appreciating and mobilizing individual and community talents, skills and assets (rather than focusing on problems and needs), Community-driven development rather than development driven by external agencies, Community development (CD) is a broad term applied to the practices and academic disciplines of civic leaders, activists, involved citizens and professionals to improve various aspects of local communities. Community development seeks to empower individuals and groups of people by providing these groups with the skills they need to affect change in their own communities. These skills are often concentrated around building political power through the formation of large social groups working for a common agenda. Community developers must understand both how to work with individuals and how to affect communities' positions within the context of larger social institutions PLA: The approach aims to incorporate the knowledge and opinions of the people in the planning and management of development projects and programs.

11 Social Accountability, Responsibility, Gender Equality and Legal Awareness Social accountability development. as an approach towards building accountability that relies on civic engagement and responsibility towards community Gender Equality: The principle of gender equality is enshrined in the Indian Constitution in its Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties and Directive Principles Legal Awareness - To impart practical knowledge about the basic legal rights and remedies provided under various related laws, thereby making them fit to face the challenges in real life situations

12 Need base Analysis (Self and Community Development) Education & Environment Development Need base Analysis (Self and Community Development) – Understanding the situation, analyze and take initiatives with human approach for self and community development Education: Education is to express and promote its unique socio-cultural identity and also to meet the challenges of the times. Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) needs the following components: (I) An understanding of human nature, society and the Environment—three ecologies. (II) Skills of ‘I’, ‘You’ and ‘We’ (III) Citizenship training. Environment Development: Polluted environment endangers the human race by threatening its survival on planet earth.
