Matthew 1:18-25

But when the fulness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law (Galatians 4:4).

Man, who is born of woman, Is short-lived and full of turmoil. (Job 14:1) What is man, that he should be pure, Or he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous? (Job 15:14) How then can a man be just with God? Or how can he be clean who is born of woman? (Job 25:4)

And the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, Cursed are you more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly shall you go, and dust shall you eat all the days of your life…” (Genesis 3:14)

…and I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel. (Genesis 3:15)

Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows. When His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows. When His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 1:19 And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not wanting to disgrace her, desired to put her away secretly. He could denounce her publicly He could denounce her publicly He could divorce her privately He could divorce her privately He could taker her as his wife He could taker her as his wife

Matthew 1:20-21 But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for that which has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins.”

Significance of the Virgin Birth It means God became specific It means that Jesus had both the legal right as well as the prophetic right to the throne of David Thus says the LORD, “Write this man down childless, A man who will not prosper in his days; For no man of his descendants will prosper Sitting on the throne of David Or ruling again in Judah.” (Jeremiah 22:30)

Significance of the Virgin Birth It means God became specific It means that Jesus had both the legal right as well as the prophetic right to the throne of David It means that the prophets were right

Matthew 1:22-23 Now all this took place that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.”

Now it came about in the days of Ahaz, the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah… (Isaiah 7:1). … that Rezin the king of Aram and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but could not conquer it. (Isaiah 7:1).

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel. 15 He will eat curds and honey at the time He knows enough to refuse evil and choose good. 16 For before the boy will know enough to refuse evil and choose good, the land whose two kings you dread will be forsaken. (Isaiah 7:14-16).
