3. Komen Tyler Race 2010 Information 12th annual Race netted $279,900 and had a record number of participants with over 5,900 runners and walkers registered. Power of 10 Pledge Program which was established in 2008 had a record year with individuals raising $50,150 on behalf of the Susan G. Komen Tyler Race for the Cure. That is $50,000 raised by individuals on behalf of Komen Tyler Race for the Cure. This program – which is a personal fundraising venture- was started in 2008 and made $4,000. We’ve grown a lot of the last few years and have a goal of $70,000 for 2011.

4. What is a team? Forming and participating in the Race as a Team is a great way to show your support for breast cancer awareness as a group, whether as a corporation, business or a group of friends and family. The minimum number of people required is 10 and there is no limit to the number you can have on a Team.

8. Before the Race ! Dress Properly- check the weather and dress accordingly Pin your number on the front of your shirt. This number MUST be visible so don’t leave home without it. This is your ticket to participate!

9. Getting to the Race… Be Early- Allow for plenty of time to park and walk to the Race area. Parking is limited so plan on either arriving early or walking.

11. The Komen Tyler Affiliate Grants program is managed by a grants committee and an independent review panel. One year grants are funded based on priorities established by a community profile conducted every two years. Grants are funded to non-profit organizations in Smith County that focus on breast health, education and screening. Funds are awarded in April of each year. Up to 75% of funds raised stay in Smith County. In 2010 Komen Tyler granted out $268,000 Where does the money go?
