There is not one solution but many solutions in different ways. We must compromise to accommodate for differences in opinion and be willing to listen. Science is our medium in which we can have this type of discussion. Science and society are connected in through this type of word. Scientific literacy.
It is difficult to give a voice to everyone in the discussion. (teacher acts as facilitator in this) A lot of time is needed for the teacher to plan the necessary materials and information for the lesson.
Develops skills such as communication, and problem solving. They learn to listen to other opinions, be open- minded and see others perspectives. It helps build self confidence in the children. No special equipment needed for this method Reflects democracy. Lesson is more enjoyable.
Yes There are different aims for younger and older students. Older students must give stronger opinions Older students must do more independent research. Younger students will have their emphasis on more social skills.
They will develop their social skills. Learn about new concepts in interesting ways. Gain new knowledge through research and listening to others.
