2 Current Scenario  Focus on Theoretical Knowledge  No platform for innovation  Defined Educational Paths – Career driven  Infrastructure Issues at school level  Lack of E- learning mechanisms

3 Result  Most of the students end up doing a “Solar – cooker “ or “Wind- Mill”  Set patterns of higher education  Abysmally small number of Phd’s/ Research/Patents (esp vs China)  Lack of group dynamics and project management abilities

4 Causes  No incentive for students – “ only 30 % of wieghtage” for project work(CBSE)  Most of the students get around 25-27 in spite of doing dummy projects  Some state boards have a 0 % component of project  Focus is to get good marks and hence schools are lenient in grading project work  Focus is just on the end deliverable which can be easily bought for 200-300 rupees  Parents are not sensitive towards benefit of practical learning and knowledge

7 Further Ideas  Evaluation  50% evaluation by school  Rest 50 % by a instructor chosen randomly from some other school  Organize a summer camp  Collaboration with research/educational institutes  Rewards for top 15 projects in terms of scholarship
