2 WHY INDIA? In spite of a global downturn, India’s future growth story remains intact. Along with China, India’s economy is again poised to go back to the 7-8% GDP growth era. A new Government will ensure that India will continue to encourage an open door policy for fresh foreign investments, across sectors. 5 SOME KEY TRENDS India’s consumption of aluminium has grown at a CAGR of 15%, in the last 5 years. This figure is the double of world average, which stands at 8.1%.. However, when we look at the per capita consumption of aluminium in India, it is just 1.3 kgs. This is way below the worldwide average of 7.4 kgs. It clearly indicates that there is a huge potential, for further growth. Light weighing of automobiles using aluminium, is being taken up on a priority basis, in India.
