support.ebsco.com EBSCOadmin Security Tutorial

Welcome to EBSCO’s tutorial on EBSCOadmin Security, where you control access to your EBSCOadmin module. Only you and those administrators you set up in this section will be able to make changes to your EBSCOhost users’ search experiences.

EBSCOadmin Security provides a simple method for setting up additional EBSCOadmin administrators to help you run Reports and Statistics, for example, without granting them access to other areas of the module, unless you choose to do so.

You can create a new EBSCO administrator by following these steps: First, click on the EBSCOadmin Security link at the top of the screen. Click on the Add New Administrator link and complete the form fields, including the new administrator’s email address. Click Submit. An email message will be sent to your new administrator containing a temporary 15-day password, along with a link to the EBSCOadmin change password screen, described later in this tutorial.

Your newly created administrator will appear in your list of all administrators for your account. To assign rights to your new administrator, click the Go link under the Roles column.

Adjust the radio buttons next to each EBSCOadmin section, using these criteria: Read Only (if selected, this section of EBSCOadmin will be visible but cannot be altered.) Write (Your new administrator will be able to change this section, if enabled.) None (The new administrator will not see this section of the interface.)

Note that any new administrator will show 15 days in the Password expires in “X” days column (the amount of time left on their temporary password). After the new administrator has followed the email directions, the new Strong password will be in effect for one year. To maintain access to EBSCOadmin, passwords must be reset before they expire.

At any time, you can change your EBSCOadmin password. Click on the Change Password link. Fill in the old and new password, and then select a Secret Question from the drop-down list. Enter the answer in the appropriate field. The answer is not case-sensitive. Note: All new passwords must comply with the Strong password rules shown on the right.

If you forgot your password, click on the Forgot your Password? link on the EBSCOadmin login screen.

A new screen will prompt for your EBSCOadmin ID. Enter it here and click Continue.

When prompted, provide the answer to your secret question. When answered correctly, the secret question function will generate an email, which will contain a new, temporary password.

At any time, click the Help link to view the complete online Help system.
