1 The Doppler Effect

2 The perceived change in wavelength of a wave that is produced by a source that is moving away or toward a source.

4 In Astronomy, the Doppler effect is used to: Determine whether a star or other body in space is moving away or toward Earth. A star that is moving away appears redder (longer wavelength). A star moving towards Earth appears blue (shorter wavelength)

5 1.Briefly summarize the relationship between Doppler shift and the speed of a moving object. 2.What can you infer about a star that exhibits a red shift in its spectra?
