3 Let the Children learn

4 Schools of thought In the complex world of today, there are those certain basics things that would not be harmful to your children if they did not have some knowledge of those things. Then again, there are other things, the knowledge of which, would certainly be nice if your children had some knowledge or some basic ideas about them and in retrospect, might make a difference. However, there are those things, without the knowledge of which, would be very devastating to your children’s competitive edge, future and safety!

5 SYLLABUS Let the Children learn knowledge that all children of God absolutely must have This is a brief outline of a FAST and FUN learning session, designed for Children, of 6 years to 12+ years of age (children of All ages). This learning session should also include the adults, parents, teachers and all who need the refresher course of the basic knowledge that all children of God absolutely must have. Introduction to the Outline Basic questions are presented often with a statement that precedes the questions. The statement will have sufficient information that would enable easy answers to the question asked. The questions are numbered and marked with the letter { Q }. In all cases, the level of the questions or the degree of challenge of the questions are indicated by denoting an age, for instance { Age 6+ }, which means that children at the age of 6 and above should know the subject matter of the questions. The indicated level of {Age 8+ } means the age of 8 and above, {Age 12+ } means the age of 12 and above, etc., unless otherwise indicated.

6 the Outline-introduction The basic questions, marked with the letter { Q }, begin with the basic concepts and common knowledge that all children of the indicated age should have. Even though the suggested ages are indicated, an advice to the parents should be that the ages should not be written in stone. However, the parents should never hold back or prevent a child, who is gifted and younger than the indicated age, from proceeding onward! Children should also be allowed self-expression without fear of consequences. The topic of the questions begin with the Stars, the Moon, the Sun and the heavenly bodies, etc., and the basic reasons for the seasons, knowledge of the time of the day, the earth and the science of the earth, of the sun, of the moon and the simplified basics of the solar system. Some basic fundamentals commonly known to children of other cultures are presented and stressed here. Basic ideas of the weather systems are presented, citing the appropriate Biblical references wherever possible, as the children may often hear passages from the Bible taught and preached in church that may reinforce the learning in the school systems outside of the church. Also, the answers { A }, to the questions will be supplied along with some parental and tutorial aids. The tutors can be the older and more advanced children who should be encouraged to help teach their younger brothers and sisters and the lesser advanced children. This is also a learning process in itself for the children.

7 the Outline The basic questions { Q }  The questions 1, 2, 3 and 4 {Age 6+} involve the basics on the Stars, Moon, Sun, Planets and the Heavens. Earth, the reasons for the seasons, the days and nights are covered here.  The question 5 through 17 {Age 8+} involve the basics on the mechanisms human kind devise for the keeping of the time. We know that the clocks which are not perfect. Albert Einstein once said: "Zeit ist das, was die Uhr anzeigt.“, “Time is that, which is indicated by the clock.” Since the clock are not perfect, some run slowly, some run fast, some sporadically. The spinning Earth and the orbiting Moon system, collectively orbiting the Sun, is such a clock. It is not constant! Obviously, time is not important to the universe. We know it is not important to God. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Intuitive reasoning is encouraged here. The Earth, imagined as a {mother spaceship}, a type of Heavenly Body we travel on, the north and south poles of the Earth, the Solar System pictured in the mind, the tilting of the Earth used to explain the lengths of the day for the various seasons are focused on. The children will become familiar with the calendar as an instrument to monitor the days, the weeks and the years. Intuitive reasoning for the mechanics of the Earth and the Moon system, the spinning of the heavenly bodies, their orbits, the difference between “orbit” and “spin” is intuitively drummed into the minds of the children.

8 the Outline The basic questions { Q } The question 5 through 17 {Age 8+} (continued) A child must know the names of the forces. For instance, “Gravity” is that force the pulls us all down towards the ground. One will quickly learn that it is this very force the scientist have the foggiest notion how to explain. We know now virtually as much as what Galileo Galilei { AD} knew when he dropped the stones off the from the top of the Leaning Tower of Piza.

9 the Outline The basic questions { Q }  The questions 18 through 25{Age 10+} are more advanced involving the Earth, Sun and Moon system and the essential knowledge of the Tides of the waters, know in biblical times. Historical events seem to synchronize with the tiding events, also in the Bible. The motion of the stars of the Heavens, as seen from Earth, is understood by the children from intuitive reasoning. The Earth’s geographical regions are focused on here. The magnets children play with are compared to the Earth’s intrinsic magnetic field. The student intuitively recognizes and explains mentally the working of the compass. The student comprehends, with a lot of complex lectures in math, geometry and astrophysics, the Earth’s dimensions and the speed of the ground that carries us along as in a spaceship. Knowledge of the geometry of the solar system permits the children to understand the “eclipse of the Sun” and the “eclipse of the Moon” and the difference between the two of the kinds of eclipses noted on Earth. Biblical as well as modern significances of the events of the eclipse are learned and understood by the young pupils of science.

10 the Outline The basic questions { Q }  The questions 26 through 30 and future questions to be added {Age 12+} involve all of the above topics and cover more advanced, essential knowledge the children absolutely “MUST” have to comprehend their surroundings and is essential for the security and safety in the modern times. The understanding of the weather systems, with Biblical reference wherever appropriate, is a key focus here. The children will quickly learn the significance of the ancient records and the Bible content of sciences which explains phenomena of the Earth’s climate, much of which was only recently discovered in modern times. The movement of the winds, the directions and speeds of climate systems are grasped using intuitive measures by the children, citing again biblical passages.  Essential, common-sense knowledge is focused upon for {All Ages}. An update to the syllabus will take place periodically.

11 Parents should encourage children to try to answer all questions correctly. The correct answers are available upon request at Florida Avenue Baptist Church
