Etiquette While at Dumas Junior High School there are many behaviors that are expected of you. You are in Junior High now and expected to act accordingly! The following slides review these expectations. If you do not follow these expectations you will be politely reminded. If you choose not to follow these expectations when asked politely, disciplinary actions will result. (You will be in the office.)
Hall Way Etiquette Before School Enter through the main entrance, the 7 th commons or the 8 th commons. From there you may go to the cafeteria or put you instrument up in the band hall. Then you will exit the building. The main hallway is a one way hall way before school. If you need to go to the office, go before you go to the cafeteria. If you need to go after breakfast, you will be asked to walk around the building. Walk down the right hand side of the hall. Do not run. Do not push and shove. You may talk in the hall during passing periods, but please do not scream. If in the hall at other times, please be quiet so you do not disturb class.
Cafeteria Etiquette While in line, stand in a single file line. (People with trays are trying to get through.) Do not bring book bags into the cafeteria. If you do you will be asked to take them back to your locker and will lose your place in line. You may talk in the cafeteria. We want you to enjoy your lunch, but please do not scream and yell. Do not touch anyone walking by with a tray. Do not share food. When you leave, push in your chair. (If you do not push in your chair, you will be asked to push in all the chairs in the cafeteria.) Pick up trash. (This includes trash on the tables and on the floor.)
Outside Etiquette After Lunch Exit the doors on the north end of the cafeteria. If you need to use the restroom, ask a teacher before you leave the cafeteria. After exiting the cafeteria, go to the area between the buildings. Do not reenter the building until the bell rings. (If you have an emergency and need to reenter ask a teacher for directions.) Do not push, shove, kick or hit. Do not throw rocks.
Hall Way Etiquette During School Walk down the right hand side. This includes when using the stairs. Keep your hands and feet to yourself. Do not run. You may talk, but please do not scream and yell.
After School Etiquette Take care of business as quickly as possibly. If you turn a phone in at the office, come by to pick it up, but please do not grab your phone. It will be handed to you. If you buy snacks from the concession stand, please take them outside to eat or drink them. If you have tutorials go straight to tutorials, do not mess around in the hall. When outside following the directions of the teachers on duty.
