News Good news! You may FINGERSPELL the word “NEWS” Make sure your facial expressions show if it is good news or bad news.
Newscaster “Informer” Handshape: Flat O Location: In front of forehead Movement: Start with dominant hand closer to forehead, non-dominant in front of it. Move hands outward, then add the agent marker
Story Handshape: Flat C’s Location: In front of stomach Movement: Fingers touch, then move outward repetitively
Top Story Top Handshape: Two closed 5’s Location: Middle of dominant palm on top of non-dominant fingers Palm Orientation: Dominant – down, ND – faces the right Movement: Only dominant hand moves, taps the tops of fingers one time Add Story
Breaking News Recent + Happen + News Recent Handshape: X Location: Cheek Palm Orientation: In Movement: Bend finger on face Happen Handshape: D’s/1’s Palm Orientation: Up then down Movement: Turn wrists from up to down
Anchor Head + Newscaster Handshape: Closed 5 Location: Cheek to Forehead Palm Orientation: Down Movement: Start with tips of fingers on cheek, move upward toward temple
Reporter Report + Agent Marker This sign is very similar to “order” Handshape: 1’s Location: Dominant is close to lip, but not directly underneath Palm Orientation: Out Movement: Bend fingers while moving outward and add the agent marker.
Weather Report Weather Handshape: W’s Location: In front of chest Palm Orientation: Facing each other Movement: Back and Forth Then, add the “report” sign, but do not add the agent marker
Sports Caster Sports + Newscaster (Informer) Sports (just to remind you!) Handshape: 10 Location: In front of stomach Palm Orientation: Faces each other Movement: Back and forth
News Team Fingerspell News + Team Team: Handshape: T’s Location: In front of chest Palm Orientation: Out then In Movement: Start with T’s together then turn them outward in a circular motion
Video/To Record Handshape: Dominant Hand – Closed 5, Non-Dominant Hand - S Location: Dominant – In front of face, Non-Dominant – Next to face Palm Orientation: Out Movement: Dominant stays in front of face, Non-Dominant S moves in a circular motion
Camera Man Video + Man (or woman!) We will use “Man” instead of “Woman” or “Agent Marker”

Audience Handshape: 5’s Location: In front of stomach Palm Orientation: Down Movement: Start further away from body and move arms up and toward chest. Bend fingers as you move back.
Advertisement/Commercial Handshape: S’s Location: In front of chest, near the body Movement: Dominant S is underneath ND S, dominant S will move back and forth hitting the bottom of the ND hand.
