“Cherish God’s Gift Of Marriage”

How did God lead Adam to notice God’s conclusion, “It’s not good for the man to be alone?” Questions for Reflection:

What does the term “suitable helper” tell us about the relationship between husband and wife? Questions for Reflection:

It was God who brought Eve and Adam together and instituted marriage. Marriage, then, is not a human arrangement. What implications does this have for us today? Questions for Reflection:

In the gospel of Matthew Jesus quoted Genesis 2:24 and then added, “So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate” (Matthew 19:6). What was Jesus saying about God’s will concerning marriage? Questions for Reflection:

What does this text tell us about polygamy? Homosexuality? Pre- or extramarital sexual relationships? Questions for Reflection:

How can a single person express appreciation for God’s gift of marriage? Questions for Reflection:

In thankfulness for our salvation, we support God’s work with our offerings.

Oh, Give Us Homes LAPPY p214 Verses 2-3 Text: Barbara B. Hart Setting: FINLANDIA Tune: Jean Sibelius

Verse 1: Oh, give us homes built firmly on the Savior, Where Christ is head and counselor and guide, Where ev’ry child is taught his love and favor And gives his heart to Christ, the crucified. How sweet to know that, though our footsteps waver, A faithful Lord is walking by our side!

Verse 2: Oh, give us homes where Christ is Lord and master, The Bible read, the precious hymns still sung, Where prayer comes first in peace or in disaster And praise is natural speech to ev’ry tongue, Where mountains move before a faith that’s vaster And Christ sufficient is for old and young.

Verse 3: O Lord, our God, our homes are yours forever! We trust to you their problems, toil, and care; Their bonds of love no enemy can sever If you are always Lord and master there. Lord, be the center of our least endeavor; Lord, be our guest, our hearts and homes to share.
