6 Optical characterisation equip Dark-box with an automated x-y stage Spectral response measurements: can be made using a tunable monochromator ( nm) using fibre optic outputs Flat field images: made using super bright LEDs and with diffusion paper to equalise light over DUT Photon Transfer Measurements: made by varying voltage to LED. Main technique used for analyzing CCD and APS devices All above measurements are fully automated using custom written Labview scripts. Image processing done via custom c/root files

8 Equipment in IGR labs Optical Surface Profiler – Wyko NT1100 Optical surface profiler from Veeco is a metrology system using non-contact interferometry to measure surface features TM1000 SEM – Hitachi TM1000 table top SEM, resolution of 30 nm

9 Alibava system Devices to be tested – LHCb module LHCb module in preparation Some changes to the code?? – SCP devices Thin edge devices prepared at SCIPP as part of an RD50 project. Wish to perform IV and charge collection studies to understand their behaviour. Possible to irradiated these in B’ham and study post irradiation. Supports D.L. T.B. (see next slide) – Irradiated SCT Set of detectors irradiated in the PS. Desire to understand charge collection, noise and reverse current as a function of bias voltage and annealing – 3D Irradiated 3D tested in the past. Wish to perform some annealing studies to complement the TCT work of Graeme.

Proposed date is week of Dec 5 th Days Wednesday to Friday – Follows on from CNM 3 days T.B. particulars – Micro-focused beam to scan over pixel/strips/15keV as before – Will concentrated on edgeless devices. – Use Alibava for strip devices. More SCP devices from SCIPP – Characterize here first CTR from Andy Blue? – Option on Medipix devices from Lars (Paula Collins for LHCb)
