5 Articles of Association In the following ‘Association’ stands for the European Forum for GeoStatistics Article 1 Article 2 - Term Article 3 - Purpose Article 4 – Seat of the Association Article 5 - Members 5.1 The Association shall be comprised of Active and Associate Members. 7 The Steering Committee The steering committee of the EFGS, under the management of the Chair, are generally seconded from our members, the National Statistical Institutions of Europe. They provide both technical knowledge and experience and a very broad understanding of the environment in which our members work. It is this team that co-ordinates the management of EFGS’ various products, projects and expert groups and other activities.

8 The Steering Committee Examples on roles and duties (within or outside the Steering Committee): President -represent the Association before the courts and in all ordinary operations. He shall open or cause bank accounts to be opened in the Association's name. He may delegate authorisation to sign with regard to these accounts. Executive Director - The Executive Director shall necessarily have authority to sign. Programme Manager - ensures that the combined activities of EFGS deliver our goal and mission Business Manager - looking after Sales and Marketing policy European Affairs Manager - improving our engagement with the community institutions Communications Management Secretary - providing administration and logistical support Steering member/s - consists of up to 9 active members, each with one vote. The president has a casting vote.

9 Expert Groups Comprising experts from the National Statistical Institutions (NSIs) and others, our Expert Groups, providing a forum for exchanging best practice and discussing the day-to-day issues facing all NSIs. Examples: Expert Group on geostatistics chaired by Mr/s. X. Expert Group on Confidentiality chaired by Mr/s. X. Expert Group on Pricing and Dissemination Policy chaired by Mr/s. X. Expert Group on Quality chaired by Mr/s. X. Expert Group on Information and Data Specifications chaired by Mr/s. X.

10 Further work Steering committee works on proposals to the European Statistical Committee, to turn EFGS into a European Economic Interest Group. Need better definitions of roles, duties and responsibilities etc. Ordinary General Assembly in 2012 Interim Steering Committee based upon members of the Geostat project untill 2012
