4 Cardiovascular System- system of heart and blood vessels working together Heart- pumps the blood throughout the body Lungs- helps you breathe in oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide K Kinder

5 Oxygen- a gas that you inhale that the blood takes from the lungs Carbon Dioxide- a gas that the blood brings from the body to the lungs for you to exhale Asthma- a condition that keeps people from breathing well K Kinder

8 The heart is located in the middle of the body. It is about the size of your fist. K1 8 THE HEART

9 Make a fist and place it on your heart. 9 K1

10 The heart pumps blood all over the body. When you exercise, the heart beats faster to pump blood to the muscles. When you sleep, the heart slows down. This is so the heart and body can rest. 10 THE HEART K1

11 The lungs are on each side of the heart. They help you breath. When you exercise, the lungs and heart work faster to deliver oxygen to your muscles. K1 11 THE LUNGS There are 2 lungs in the body.

12 Place your hands on your lungs. 12 K1

13 13 K1 The lungs breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide.

14 The heart and lungs are protected by the ribs. 14 K1

15 Asthma Asthma is a condition that keeps people from breathing well. It is not contagious so you can not catch it from someone that has it. When someone has asthma, they can have an asthma attack when they exercise. An inhaler can be used to help them breathe easier. 15 Inhaler K1

16 Benefits of Physical Activity It is important to participate in activities that increase your heart rate to keep your body healthy. When your body is healthy, you can play longer. 16 K1

17 Cardiovascular Review Jog in place if the picture is of the heart. Perform jumping jacks if the picture is of the lungs. 17 K1

18 Cardiovascular Review Perform crab kicks in place if the picture is of the heart. Perform skier jumps if the picture is of the lungs. 18 K1
