Violence is… when you hurt someone’s body. When you say mean things to hurt someone’s feelings. When you do things that make someone feel like they are not as good as everyone else.
But what if someone hits me I’m not supposed to fight back

Gandhi lived in a country called India. The people there are called Indians. Some people called the British lived there too. They were not nice to the Indians. ?
Gandhi wanted to change the way people treated each other. But the British people didn’t want to change.
Gandhi didn’t believe in fighting with fists. Ever! Even if someone hit him first. So what should he do?
Gandhi did a lot of different things to help people change. He never ever hurt anyone’s body mind or heart.
Gandhi was put in jail many times for not following the laws that were not fair. He never fought with his fist. Only with his mind and heart.
Gandhi did so many different things for many many years and all of them were nonviolent. Next time we will learn about this picture and why it is so important.
