“Grammar to Explain” 부정의 부사어 (never, no not, etc.) 를 사용하지 않고서도 부정의 의미를 나타내는 구문들 : 그는 거짓말을 할 사람이 아니다 [ 결코 거짓말쟁이가 아니다 ] : He is above telling a lie. / He is the last man to tell a lie [that will tell a lie]. He is far from (being) a liar. = He never tells a lie. [He is no liar]. fail to ∼ : ∼하지 못하다 [ 않다 ] : John often fails to keep his word. ( 존은 종종 약속을 안 지킨다.) free from ∼ : ∼가 없는 a day free from wind. ( 바람이 안 부는 날 ) / free from care ( 걱정이 없는 ) without [instead of] ∼ ing : ∼하지 않고 Bill went away without saying a word.
