Panel Session: Future of Mutation Testing and Its Application (An Outsider’s View) John A. Clark Research interests in: Security and security protocols Cryptography and cryptanalysis Genetic algorithms/Simulated annealing Formal specification, proof and testing Quantum computing.
Challenges - A To Do List Learn to love equivalent mutants (resilience exploration) Restrict the domain - look at software engineering.Focus. Stop talking to testers and talk more to the developers. –essential for effective automation –essential for a true risk based approach Attack the anti-synthetic prejudices. Stop talking to developers and talk to heavyweight constraint logic programmers, heavyweight genetic algorithmers etc. Don’t reinvent the specialist wheels your self.
Challenges - A To Do List Drop mutation adequacy! –what do you do with an inadequate test set? Embrace non-determinism; choose a different idea of what it means to be different. Be less obsessed with positive uses of fault injection ideas - embrace the darker side.
