Why is palm oil a problem? The global palm oil industry is expanding rapidly: it's used in an increasing number of food and shower products, while demands for its use in fuels like diesel are set to soar in the near future. Acres of trees chopped down and replacled by palm oil plantations
What Enviroment is it effecting? Tropical rainforests, in South East Asia are being destroyed to make way for oil palm plantations. Not only is this a disaster for local communities, it will also release vast amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, speeding up climate change.
Who is it affecting? The Growing plantations of Palm Oil are affecting many different types of animals. The ecosystem is effected as a whole from the bugs to the orangutans and while the palm oil plantatons are being made animal rights to orangutans in the main are being broken. This orangutan has been killed by plantation workers
