1 4 TH S ATURDAY @ C SC (5.30pm to 10pm) Rosary / P & W / Mass and Healing Jan 26: “ THE HEALING POWER OF THE WORD” Celebrant: Rev Fr William Goh Many of us seek healing from the Lord by asking people to pray for them or to pray over them. Whilst we can be certain that God hears our prayers when we pray to Him or intercede for others, yet such prayers for healing and miracles are more effective and lasting when preceded, accompanied and followed by the Word of God. This is because the Word of God when heard with conviction and faith, either when preached or read, brings about the interior conversion of the mind and heart, rendering the person receptive to the healing grace of God. This homily endeavours to deepen one’s appreciation for the power of the creative, restorative and healing power of the Word of God. Indeed, His words are spirit and they are life! F RIDAY G ROWTH @ C SC (7.30pm to 10pm) Praise & Worship /Talk / Mass Jan 04: THE GOAL OF CHRISTIAN LIFE Talk by Rev Fr William Goh Why should we be interested in our faith and in the growth of our spiritual life? Many think that spiritual life is just another adjunct to one’s life and quite often one can even do without. The truth is that growth in spiritual life is for the sake of arriving at our goal in life. Consequently, a more immediate question is to know our ultimate purpose in life, which is to share in the glory of God. At first glance, this sounds so uninteresting. Yet in truth, we find our true selves only when we share the Trinitarian life of God which is that of abundant love, fecundity and dynamic life. This is what salvation and sanctification is all about. Jan 11: “JESUS DESCENDED INTO HELL..." WHO GOES TO HELL? FR. JOLLY DID! Talk by Rev Fr Andrew Wong "He descended into hell; on the third day, he rose again from the dead." Do you know what these lines mean? It is not the hell of eternal damnation of Satan and the other devils and the people who reject God in their lives on earth. The "hell" is the underworld or Hades in which Christ reaches out and enters into to lift up the people and bring them to salvation. Fr. Jolly (John Tae-Suk Lee), the unknown Korean "Saint" of Sudan, was a South Korean missionary and also a medical doctor. He has left behind a truly wonderful legacy motivating thousands of people to do the same as he did. "He descended into hell..." through unconditional love towards those less fortunate in a country suffering from war, poverty and disease.
