HCC Facts Accredited through Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Serves over 50,000 students at over 20 campus locations Offers Associate degrees in the Arts, Sciences, General Studies & Applied Sciences Average age of student: 27 years
Part-Time Status Part-time employees comprise approximately two-thirds of HCC employees Generally hired for specific time period to perform a specific “assignment” Considered temporary and “at will” – no guarantee of continued work Valuable member of the team!
Organizational Structure Nine-member Board of Trustees are elected and serve staggered six-year terms, without pay Chancellor reports to Board of Directors; responsible for operation of entire system Reporting to Chancellor – Presidents: Central College, Coleman College Northeast College, Northwest College, Southeast College, and Southwest College Vice Chancellor- Division of Extended Learning, Deputy Chancellor Reporting to Deputy Chancellor - Vice-Chancellors: Instruction, Student Success, & Information Technology Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources, Police Chief, General Counsel

Worker’s Compensation Covers all employees while working Notify supervisor if injured and complete form Report within 24 hours

Pay Day Pay periods: 1st to 15th and 16th to end of month Pay dates: 15th and last working day of month Exception: faculty paid semesterly - four times during semester
Benefits Participation Effective 9/1/04, adjunct faculty meeting eligibility criteria and having teaching duties only may elect to participate in ERS Health, Dental, Life, Disability, Flexible Spending and Long-Term Care for themselves and dependents even though not eligible for Teacher Retirement System. The entire cost of coverage is the adjunct faculty member’s responsibility.
ERS Eligibility Criteria Must have teaching duties only Must have taught at least 1 course each fall and spring for the last three Fiscal Years Contracted/Scheduled for at least 12 semester hours in the current Fiscal Year DutiesHistorical TeachingProspective
FAQs What benefits am I eligible for? Not eligible for HCC benefits programs May be eligible for Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) benefit participation Participation in TIAA-CREF required unless: Currently a contributing TRS member elsewhere TRS or ORP retiree Am I eligible for Holiday pay? No. Part-time employees are not covered for any paid leave; paid only for time worked When and where will I receive my pay? Choose direct deposit or Cash Pay ® All paperwork must be into HR and signed/processed If I get injured on the job, am I covered under Worker’s Compensation? Yes, report any injury to supervisor immediately

User name: email@example.com@hccs.edu Initial password: birthday xx/xx/xxxx Check your personnel information, change address, view pay information, register for training through @Your Service. FAQs What do I do if I can’t make it to work? If absent for any reason, notify department or site administrator If faculty, a substitute must be arranged What if there is inclement weather? Report for duty unless campus closes; watch news reports for official campus closings or check HCC web site How many hours per week can I work as a part time employee or adjunct professor? Up to 19.5 hours per week or Teach up to 9 credit hours per semester If retired from HCC, consult on-line guidelines for work limitations. Can I join the Credit Union? Yes, Smart Financial Credit Union Can I participate in professional development activities? Yes, HCC encourages professional growth for all employees; check with your supervisor
