We all have a story to tell which will provide hope and inspiration and prevents judgments. The gift at the end of the long, hard road is a new perspective on life and a desire to help others face the same challenges you have overcome.
I was speechless Letters in the alphabet helped me communicate my feelings and needs
“A” is for Anxiety Ahhhh…..Dr I have Aaaaaaaaaa….. All day All night That sends me into flight!
“B” is for Bald A funny thing happened on the way to get gasoline… One of my more stressful embarrassing moments
“C” is for Chemo Brain Cognitive dysfunction associated with chemotherapy. I know you don’t understand, but I may lose my keys! May lose my mind Forget your name FOCUS!
“I” is for Incarceration CANCER feels like PRISON! Cancer confines you to a cell or cells. Isolates you ….tell me how? Treatment makes it worse Cancer becomes all you know at times.
“J” is for Jealousy BELLISIMO! Is it dysfunctional to feel envious of another with good health ? To be angered by their results? Someone “WHY ME?” else is a lower stage at cancer. … Someone else’s boobs had a better surgical outcome… Mmm cupcakes with gumdrops- NOT ME!
“K” is for Keys Have an extra sets of car keys everywhere! You will forget many things … but most of all your car keys will play numerous tricks hiding from you!
“L” is for Lymphedema Can STING, BURN, THROB, SWELL LYMPHEDEMA - your salt intake effects
“S” is for Sexuality HOLD ME…TOUCH ME…LOVE ME! I am still the same person! How does my partner perceive me? What issues do they feel about my change in body image What are the ways to communicate your needs? Verbal Nonverbal
