What are the Benefits of the Knowledge Bank? Immediate distribution of research to a worldwide audience A Google search can be done for materials in the Knowledge Bank Each item in the Knowledge Bank is assigned an identifier – a URL which can be used in a citation. It provides a Web presence for the work and makes a commitment to preserve the platform if and when it is needed.

Benefits of the Knowledge Bank Provides easy, quick and reliable remote access to OSU’s research and scholarly materials. Supports and encourages collaboration with colleagues.
Can Materials be Withdrawn from the Knowledge Bank? There may be times when items are withdrawn from the Knowledge Bank, but they are not actually removed. Items are just removed from view, thus preventing the loss of historical records. All of the items are traced as a note with a message that says “removed from view at the request of the author” or some similar statement.
Knowledge Bank Changes and Metadata Items cannot be edited or changed An updated version may be submitted Metadata (Data about Data) – Manually created metadata adds value because it ensures consitency.
