6 Rhodes University - Department of Computer Science 6 Challenges Geographic separation makes it challenging to streamline VoIP deployment between UNAM and Rhodes Liaise with UNAM network administrator to open discussions with UNAM’s ISP for traffic shaping Liaise with UNAM’s ISP to implement VoIP traffic prioritization for SIP messages sent from Rhodes Recess at UNAM made access to campus facilities difficult and thus delaying the deployment process Due to limited bandwidth at UNAM critical iLanga installations were delayed for long periods of time

7 Rhodes University - Department of Computer Science 7 Work to be done Based on my milestones I am slightly ahead of schedule but demanding practical work is to be done in the next two terms Finalise the installation of iLanga at UNAM Create a test bed at Rhodes to experiment with traffic shaping Implement traffic shaping at UNAM’s ISP Determine the optimum codec to use on the VoIP link Test link to see if live video can be sustained
