Grace Fellowship Church Pastor/Teacher - Jim Rickard Thanksgiving Special Wednesday, November 27, 2013
1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Thanksgiving in the Book of Psalms!
In Hebrew “thanksgiving” is TODAH, תּוֹדָה. “Thanksgiving, praise and confession.”
Psa 95:2 First and foremost, we thank God for the rock of salvation, The Lord Jesus Christ.
Psa 100:4 Four fold command:
1) As you come in the door come with a heart of thanksgiving for God and this place of worship that God has provided for you.
2) Come to worship and celebrate, fellowshipping with the Lord and each other.
3) Offer your time in thanksgiving and praise to Him with a grateful heart.
4) Come to learn His Word for a more intimate fellowship with Him. And bless Him, praise Him, ascribe honor to Him, as the God of all things.
Psa 107:22 Offer sacrifices of thanksgiving as a memorial to the restoration of fellowship with the Lord, and witness to others of God’s healing lovingkindness.
Psa 116:17 Offer thanksgiving in appreciation for prayers being answered, especially in deliverance of afflictions.
Psa 147:7 Sing God’s praises for His attributes, character, and nature, as He uses them to care and provide for us all.
Heb 13:15, “Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.”
