3 The object of the game…game Ordinary Hornet students must sting all of the hidden Green Hornets! Green Hornets must remain hidden and survive! But be careful! You might sting an ordinary Hornet! The game is over when all Green Hornets have been stung or when they outnumber the other Hornets!

4 Secret Orders! The teacher will pass out a slip of paper with your secret orders! Once you receive your orders, immediately dispose of the piece of paper without discussing what was on it. Most of you will be ordinary Hornets. One of you will be the Crimson Hornet, one will be the Cream Hornet, one will be the Black Hornet Some of you will be the Green Hornets! Do not get discovered!

5 Night Time! Everybody put their heads down!

6 The Crimson Hornet! The Crimson Hornet (Detective) awakes! The teacher SILENTLY writes down the name of the student that is the Crimson Hornet

7 The Black Hornet! The Black Hornet (Vigilante) awakes! The teacher SILENTLY writes down the name of the student that is the Black Hornet

8 The Green Hornets! The Green Hornets now awake! The teacher SILENTLY writes down the names of the students that are the Green Hornets

9 The Cream Hornet! The Cream Hornet (Doctor) awakes! The teacher SILENTLY writes down the name of the student that is the Cream Hornet.

10 The Next Morning… EVERYONE wakes up!

11 Day Time! The players must discuss who might be a Green Hornet! You do not have to be truthful about what role you were assigned! When the students decide who will be stung, tell the teacher. That Hornet is removed from the game and may no longer speak or communicate!

12 Night Time! Everybody put their heads down!

13 The Crimson Hornet Investigates! The Crimson Hornet awakens! Whomever is the Crimson Hornet may now stand up and silently point to another student. The teacher will nod “yes” if that student is actually a Green Hornet, or shake their head “no” if the that student is not a Green Hornet. The Crimson Hornet goes back to sleep.

14 The Black Hornet Stings! The Black Hornet awakens! Whomever is the Black Hornet silently points to a student to “sting.” The Black Hornet goes back to sleep.

15 The Green Hornets Sting! The Green Hornets now awaken! Green Hornets must silently agree to point at one Hornet to “sting.” The Green Hornets go back to sleep.

16 The Cream Hornet Protects! The Cream Hornet awakens! The Cream Hornet silently indicates a student to protect. If that student was previously stung by the Black or Green Hornets, they are no longer considered stung. The Cream Hornet goes back to sleep.

17 The Next Morning… EVERYONE wakes up! The teacher announces who was successfully “stung” during the middle of the night. Do not announce who was stung by whom and who was protected by the Cream Hornet. Hornets who were stung must move to the back of the class and put their hands on their mouths!

68 Reflection What's your justification for singling out another player if you were 'out' of the game, did you chose to engage still in the game (observe) or did you tune out? Why?

69 Reflection Continued If you were one of the special color hornets, did that make you feel more powerful? Did you enjoy the opportunity? Did it seem like cliques (you'll have to maybe use a different word or define it, most don't know what the word clique means yet, but they know the concept) started to show up? What were the cliques based upon? Social relationships? Height? Gender? Did you want to be the green hornet?
