17 Spanish ships took the long way home 2 low fronts from the Little Ice Age Huge waves and icy water in the North Sea was brutal. Many ships crashed on Scotland where the men were captured. 56 ships were destroyed in the storm. Other ships returned in bad shape 2/3rd of ships lost Storms killed more Spaniards than the battle
