GOD & MAN A Relationship for All-Time Lesson 3: The Problem of Sin

Why is sin a problem? Sin is contrary to God. Sin brings death. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

Why is sin a problem? Sin separates man from God. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. Isaiah 59:2

Thoughts to Consider Sin is man’s universal problem Sin is man’s personal problem It is because of sin that Christ came into the world and died on the cross. Christ is the answer!

Sin is Man’s Universal Problem We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. 1 John 5:19

Sin is Man’s Universal Problem We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. 1 John 5:19

Sin is Man’s Universal Problem The sway - the power or temptation to sin

Sin is Man’s Universal Problem for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23 All – all sin at some point Glory of God – God is perfect, without sin

Sin is Man’s Personal Problem We do not inherit the sin of Adam The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself. Ezekiel 18:20

Sin is Man’s Personal Problem The nature of sin makes it impossible to inherit! Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 1 John 3:4

Sin is Man’s Personal Problem We are responsible for our own sins. There is not single person who can bail you out of your punishment for sin - only Christ can make atonement!

Sin is Man’s Personal Problem For there is not a just man on earth who does good and does not sin. Ecclesiastes 7:20

It is because of sin that Christ came into the world and died on the cross. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.“ Matthew 1:21 The reason Christ died on the cross is because of the sins of mankind.

It is because of sin that Christ came into the world and died on the cross. For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:20

It is because of sin that Christ came into the world and died on the cross. For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:20 You – the faithful Bought at a price – the blood of Christ

It is because of sin that Christ came into the world and died on the cross. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Matthew 26:28

Satan fought Christ in His mission to save the world. Matthew 4:1-11 Here the temptations of Christ were designed to ruin the Scheme of Redemption.

Matthew 4:1-11 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. 3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, " If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread."

Matthew 4: But He answered and said, " It is written, ' Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. '"5 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, " If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: 'He shall give His angels charge over you, ' and,' In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. '"

Matthew 4:1-11 Jesus said to him, " It is written again, 'You shall not tempt the Lord your God. '"8 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, " All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me."

Matthew 4:1-11 Then Jesus said to him, " Away with you, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve. '"11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

Satan fought Christ in His mission to save the world. Satan desires for man to live as man desires and not as God desires. Man lives as he desires = eternal punishment Man lives as God desires = eternal life

Man lives as he desires But it will not be well with the wicked; nor will he prolong his days, which are as a shadow, because he does not fear before God. Ecclesiastes 8:13

Man lives as God desires In the way of righteousness is life, And in its pathway there is no death. Proverbs 12:28

Christ is the answer Then they said to the woman, "Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.“ John 4:42

Christ is the answer - Savior Rescuer – from the sting of death Redeemer – paid the price for our sins Deliverer – brought us near to God Protector – secures our souls in eternal life

Christ is the answer Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. Acts 5:31

Christ is the answer I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. John 15:5

Christ is the answer I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. John 15:5

Christ is the answer For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, Ephesians 2:8

The problem of sin is solved in the blood of Christ And I said to him, " Sir, you know. "So he said to me, " These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Revelation 7:14
