7. ICEL WHAT CHILD IS THIS WHAT CHILD IS THIS, who, laid to rest, On Mary's lap is sleeping? Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, While shepherds watch are keeping? This, this is Christ, the King, Whom shepherds guard and angels sing: Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Babe, the Son of Mary!

8. ICEL Why lies He in such mean estate, Where ox and ass are feeding? Good Christian, fear: for sinners here The silent Word is pleading. Nail, spear shall pierce him through, The Cross be borne for me, for you; Hail! Hail the Word made flesh, The Babe, the Son of Mary!

ICEL ISAIAH 11:1; 35:1-2 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 35:1-2 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the excellency of our God.

35. ICEL JOY TO THE WORLD JOY TO THE WORLD; the Lord is come; Let earth receive her King; Let every heart prepare him room, And heav'n and nature sing. (3X)
