2 Put NAEA to Work for You NAEA is here to work for you. It’s the only association dedicated to serving your interests as an enrolled agent. Through advocacy, education, public awareness and practice management resources, NAEA membership helps you advance your career as an enrolled agent. 2

3 Advocacy NAEA has a prominent seat at the table with senior IRS decision-makers and has frequent communication with IRS that produces results: NAEA has successfully pressed for a carve-out from the PTIN requirement for non-signing preparers working in EA firms; Successfully lobbied for a reduction in the EA renewal fee; Gives member testimonies before the House and Senate on issues that make a difference in your practice; Has local level partnerships with your state affiliate on state- based legislation and regulatory issues. 3

4 Advocacy A Legal Defense Fund was created to assist with the legal expenses required to defend the rights of enrolled agents on the national, state and local levels. NAEA PAC (a bipartisan political action committee), a significant grassroots force helps elect public officials that understand and share the priorities of enrolled agents. 4

5 Advocacy NAEA’s annual Fly-in Day provides an opportunity to join fellow EAs and: Campaign for issues of interest to all EAs. Raise the enrolled agent profile with legislative decision-makers. Gain the practical knowledge of citizen advocacy while having personal meetings with Congressional members and staff. 5

6 Continuing Education Education is an essential component of any EA’s success and NAEA has developed dynamic programs of the highest quality to meet member needs. 6

7 The NAEA National Conference NAEA earned its reputation for educational excellence with the National Tax Practice Institute™ (NTPI®), where top tax professionals gain the knowledge and confidence to represent their clients before the IRS. NTPI Levels 1, 2 and 3 are now offered at other times of year outside of the conference. 7

8 The NAEA National Conference A robust Tax Preparation Issues track keeps attendees on the cutting edge of tax code changes. An intensive Special Enrollment Exam Review track for experienced tax preparers prepares attendees to tackle the EA exam with confidence! 8

9 Fulfilling Your CE Requirements Attendees of the NAEA National Conference can earn up to 24 CE credits or can watch recorded National Conference sessions online to earn their CE credits. Free Webinars on hot topics offering IRS-approved CE credit are available to members. Just by reading the EA Journal magazine and taking the CE test online, members can earn 2 to 4 CE credits per issue (and fulfill the Ethics requirement). 9

10 Helping You Become an EA 10 Associate members (not yet an EA) get the member price on NAEA’s online moderated EA exam prep course. The flexibility of self-study with the added structure and support of a weekly call. Scholarships are available. Get the support of your peers on the NAEA Member Forums and social media pages – they’re rooting for you to pass the SEE!

11 Public Awareness Spreading the word that EAs are the tax professionals of choice—communicating the value that enrolled agents bring to clients– is a primary association goal. We’ve branded enrolled agents as “America’s Tax Experts®.” 11

12 Public Awareness Educating America The NAEA “Educating America” initiative has been developed to raise awareness of the EA career option among community college students across the country. We’ve partnered with Gleim Publications to develop a course that members and staff are working to get into college curriculums. 12

13 Public Awareness of EAs We are always looking for new ways to get the word out that EAs are America’s tax experts. In addition to an aggressive press release program, NAEA: Promotes EAs through national sponsorship on NPR. Runs videos on American Airlines explaining the qualifications an EA brings. Serves as an expert resource for national and local media. 13

14 Public Awareness of EAs NAEA works with reporters from The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Money Magazine, Kiplinger’s, MarketWatch and many more. We provide members with tools to spread the word at the grassroots level, such as press releases, exhibit booths, video commercials, a PSA, print ads, brochures and flyers. 1

15 Practice Management Resources Build Your Business NAEA helps you build your business by supporting you with resources, promotion, information and clients. NAEA offers a tax research service that’s convenient and easy to use. The service answers your toughest tax questions and offers written guidance in conversational language that you can share directly with your clients. 14

16 Practice Management Resources NAEA Member Forums Network with top-notch tax professionals on the NAEA member Forums. NAEA’s members-only Linked-In and Facebook groups are great places to post tax questions and get advice from other professionals. Make live, real-time connections with thousands of EAs who offer advice and share experiences, knowledge and ideas. 15

17 NAEA Publications In addition to the bimonthly magazine EA Journal, the weekly e-newsletter brings members relevant and timely news on tax topics, laws and association news that impact the EA profession. The NAEA website offers a wealth of information and resources including the “Members Only” section. 16

18 NAEA’s “Tool Kit” Members can download valuable resources to help their practices: The NAEA and enrolled agent logos for use on business cards and marketing material. Sample letters, such as engagement letters and disclosure and waiver of potential conflict of interest. Client Newsletters written by NAEA members to distribute to your clients. 17

19 NAEA’s Marketing Tool Kit And more: Instructions on how to get in front of a crowd of potential clients by plugging into the local “speakers circuit.” Press releases that can be personalized and used to announce career milestones to local media. The NAEA State Affiliate Public Relations Guide gives tips and tricks on how to promote your chapter and practice. 18

20 Special Member Discounts NAEA offers discounts and special products and services that members use regularly, such as: Payroll services Insurance Software Research tools that can save you hundreds of dollars each year E&O insurance 19

21 Referrals Taxpayers in search of an enrolled agent in their area often use NAEA’s searchable “Find an EA” directory, which is available online or through a convenient toll-free number. Taxpayers are referred to the directory by IRS and print and broadcast media, resulting in new clients year-round for members who opt to be listed. 20

22 National / Affiliate Collaboration NAEA works to keep close relations with state affiliates and their chapters through: Semi-annual State Presidents Exchange (APEX) meetings that facilitate the sharing of ideas and experiences among state leaders. NAEA has distributed over $40,000 in stipends to state affiliate leaders to help augment travel expenses for NAEA APEX meetings. 21
