To the home of the bride the groom arrives with his parents and witnesses. The oldest members of both families give their blessings for the groom and bride, and then they all go to the church. Young couple arrives to the church. First to enter the church is the groom led by the his mother and witnesses, and they wait for the bride to enter the church led by her father. The couple meets in front of the altar. Blessing

After the marriage vow and the end of Mass the young couple leaves the church and is welcomed by the gathered guests. Spouses take the wishes of the witnesses, their parents and other guests. It is welcome to make the rain of rice or a small coins - of course, in moderate quantities. This custom symbolizes prosperity for the spouses. Collecting coins is a first small "task" in a marriage – the first person to gather more coins will rule at home. Young couple leaves the church

The first to go to the wedding reception are the parents of newlyweds, then young couple and the wedding guests. Remember to provide the transport for all the guests. Newlyweds can not hurry too much to the wedding hall, so as not to show up there before the arrival of all the guests. In this way we will avoid quite embarrassing and awkward situation, when the couple is waiting for the arrival of wedding guests. Young couple is going to a wedding reception

Upon the arrival at the hall the Mendelssohn’s March is played - the groom takes his wife across the threshold of the door. Here they meet with they parents who according to Polish custom – treat them with bread and salt. The next step is the toast of the guests. Young couple gets two glasses of drink (usually vodka) connected by a ribbon which they have to empty and throw it backwards in order to break them. Then, all people sit behind the tables. Young couple arrives at wedding hall

The usual part of every wedding reception is to provide guest a meal. After eating there a time comes to start playing fun games. The first dance is traditionally performed by the young couple - usually to the song chosen before the wedding. Only after the newlyweds finished dancing the rest of the family and guest starts dancing and having fun, too. At this point there is no specific schedule of the reception. Guests and the newlyweds are having fun as they wish. In the meantime, other hot meals are served. Eating and dancing

This custom is traditionally held at midnight. Maidens are trying to catch bride’s veil which is thrown at them, as well as the bachelors are trying to catch the groom’s bow-tie. From this moment the two most important people of this evening will be renamed as the „old-young couple” and the dance floor is now the place for the new young couple which is formed by the current owner of the veil, and of the bow-tie. „Oczepiny’’

Wedding cake is the next thing after the „oczepiny” custom. The young couple slice it and take the first piece. Then, parents and the guests receive their piece. It is always nice and tactful of the newlyweds to thank their parents for the help and support. The rest of reception also remains varied. Snacks, contests, dancing and fun – all of these continues until the given moment set by the newlyweds, or until the last guest will leave the dance floor. Usually in the early morning hours the music is rather smooth and calm. When the wedding party is over the young couple as well as the guests leave to rest before the next day of big party called „poprawiny”. Wedding cake and good fun

It is said that the groom should not see the bride dressed in a wedding dress until the wedding day. The day before the wedding, the future spouse's wedding shoes should be put on the windowsill at night because it is believed that happiness will enter them during that night. It is also believed that the luckiest months for marriage are those with the „r” letter in their name. If during the vow the bride will drop the wedding ring she should not pick it up alone but with the groom, as it is seen as a bad omen. After the mass is over the person, bride or groom, who will drag the other one to their side will call the shots in the family. After leaving the church, the bride should be showered with rice and coins - symbols of fertility and wealth.
