9 ©2006 David Williamson Shaffer We are simply the facilitators of other people’s visions......trying to get individuals to feel a part of the community, feel they have a choice and a say in the matter, and also to think in terms of a system...

14 Hi! My name is Ed and I joined the Civic League because I really care about all people having access to affordable housing. I think it would be great if we could get more housing options on the street.

21 There’s really no way that it’s going to work for us. There just isn’t enough housing! With so few places to live, landlords will be able to raise rents as much as they want, and there will be even less affordable housing. I’m sorry, but this is unacceptable.

22 ©2006 David Williamson Shaffer I don't like Ed. He didn't like my plan. I was off by 2 square feet and he told me it stunk.

38 I honestly don’t know.

39 ©2006 David Williamson Shaffer I honestly don’t know. It looks the way it does because of all the... different groups that we have.... It looks the way it does because the urban planners were compromising... how the community and groups like that would want it planned. So I think it's supposed to look like that.

41 Uh, I mean, they could look for a new landfill, like a new place to build a landfill.

42 ©2006 David Williamson Shaffer Uh, I mean, they could look for a new landfill, like a new place to build a landfill. They should have not closed down the recycling plant. They could have cut other stuff, or they could’ve raised taxes to increase revenue…They should keep a recycling plant because they should be helping to reduce the amount of waste which is… their goal…. They could export the trash…, but then that would cost a lot more money… and they’re making budget cuts...
