2 McNair Scholars Are-- Fired up by research Persons who want to pursue grad school for a research doctorate (typically the Ph. D.) Good students Either 1 st generation students from low-income families OR students from groups underrepresented in doctoral programs American citizens or resident aliens

6 McNair Is A Curriculum-Based Learning Community  Four Credit-Bearing McNair Seminars  The McNair Summer Research Institute  Graduate School Site Visits  The National McNair Research Conference  The McNair Colloquia  Astra: The UWEC McNair Scholars’ Journal Dr. Jeff Miller, our 1 st Ph.D. (Psychometrics), successfully defended his dissertation on Thursday, 18 January, 2007. University of Florida-Gainesville. Followed shortly thereafter by Dr. Teresa Jentszch (Chemistry) at the U of MN. Then Dr. Kevin Bartig (Musicology) from UNC- Chapel Hill. Then Dr. Anthony Ratkovitch at the U of MN (Chemistry).
