McNair Scholars Are-- Fired up by research Persons who want to pursue grad school for a research doctorate (typically the Ph. D.) Good students Either 1 st generation students from low-income families OR students from groups underrepresented in doctoral programs American citizens or resident aliens
Aren’t McNair Scholars All Science Majors? Humanities – incl. English, Music, History, Art, Philosophy, Religious Studies, American Indian Studies Communication – incl. C&J, German, Spanish, Linguistics, Computer Science, Math, Computational Science Social Sciences – incl. Geography, Political Science, Psychology Natural Sciences - incl. Biology, BMB, Chemistry, Materials Science, Geology, Environmental Fields, Physics No Way!

University of Florida-Gainesville. Followed shortly thereafter by Dr. Teresa Jentszch (Chemistry) at the U of MN. Then Dr. Kevin Bartig (Musicology) from UNC- Chapel Hill. Then Dr. Anthony Ratkovitch at the U of MN (Chemistry).
