Foreknowledge u Greek word “prognosis” u Means to know before u When God reveals to us what will happen before the event, we can have the foreknowledge - 2 Pet. 3:10-18 u Involves certain people u He knew beforehand what group of people would be saved u He chose those in Christ - Eph. 1:3-14
Predestination u Means to decide or determine beforehand u Involves setting criteria in advance u Can predetermine who will attend a school, take a vacation, etc u God predetermined many things regarding salvation u The crucifixion of Jesus as the atonement - Acts 2:22-33; Isa. 53:4-11 u Adoption as sons as the status of the saved - Eph. 1:5, 11 u Eternal life as the reward - Titus 1:1-4 u "Conformed to the image of His Son" as their character - 1 Pet. 2:21
Calling u Invitation through His word - Matt. 11:28-30 u Made through gospel - 2 Thess. 2:13- 17 u Can be rejected - Mk. 16:15-16 u Gospel to be preached to all creation u Called are those who accept the invitation
Justification u Has to do with acquittal or removal of guilt u God is calling sinners to be in Christ u Required change so radical it is called “conversion” - 2 Cor. 5:17 u We must repent or turn from our sin - Acts 17:30 u We must replace sinful practices with Godly ones - Eph. 4:17-24; 4:25-5:21 u Can never deserve all we receive - Lk. 17:7- 10 u Gods’ mercy fills the void - Tit. 3:3-8; 2:11-14
Glorification u Paul writes of our glorification - Rom. 8:18-25 u Will be glorified like Christ - Phil. 3:20-21
