3 Galatians 5 14 …all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself.“ 15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!

4 Galatians 5 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Hatred – lack of love, producing contentions and strifes

Contentions – disputes where there is strong disagreement

Jealousies – an intense interest for another's honor or prosperity

Outbursts of wrath – anger or animosities between contending factions, the usual effect of forming parties

Dissensions – disagreements among those expected to cooperate

Heresies – denotes divisions or schisms in the church

Envy – spite and resentment at seeing the success of another

12 Galatians 5 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Love – benevolence, good-will to put the best construction on their words and actions

(RSV) Gossip – a report (often malicious) about the behavior of other people

22 Romans 1: being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers,

23 Romans 1: They were filled with all manner of wickedness, evil, covetousness, malice. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity, they are gossips, (RSV) Malign – to speak harmful untruths about; speak evil of; slander; defame: to malign an honorable man misinterpreting the words or actions of others putting the worst construction on their conduct

24 Romans 1: They were filled with all manner of wickedness, evil, covetousness, malice. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity, they are gossips, (RSV)

25 Romans 1: who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. Backbiting, Slander, Gossip
