2. Directions for creating of multimedia presentation by participants of Czech’s mobility within Leonardo da Vinci „Agropuzzle 2” project.

3. The aim of presentation: To show characteristic features of running a farm and agrobusiness enterprises in Czech Republic on the basis of: 1) buckwheat mill house Šmajstrla – Frenštát pod Radhoštěm Each group (country) prepare its presentation in their mother tongue or in English for every visited place taking into account:  Characteristic features listed above  Personal remarks and feelings not included in the chart  Photos taken on the spot

4. 1. Vast area farms; so-called individual farms and specialization in terms of plants and animal production 1) Buckwheat mill house Šmajstrla – Frenštát pod Radhoštěm The business is specialized in buckwheat processing especially: flour for cakes, white flour as tradition, pasta and krupky. 2) Unipar – hand made candles Plants or animals are not involved in the business.

5. 2. Family oriented business activity 1) Buckwheat mill house Šmajstrla – Frenštát pod The buckwheat is there for about 150 years ago. He is at the 5 th generation. In the business are involved all the family members. 2) Unipar – hand made candles The business is specialized in flavored and colored candles.

6. 3. Vocational education of company owners and their children connected to Opava Secondary Agricultural School 1) Buckwheat mill house Šmajstrla – Frenštát pod Radhoštem The manager of the company have studies in agricultural domain, but his experience is the most helpful. 2) Unipar – hand made candles The owner has economic background studies.

7. 4. Acquiring of funds from European projects aimed at development and modernization of farms and enterprises (in close relation to agricultural education) 1) Buckwheat mill house Šmajstrla – Frenštát pod Radhoštěm He applied twice for EU programs but without success. 2) Unipar – hand made candles They had a EU program for machine maintenance.

8. 5. Cooperation with raw materials’ suppliers and recipients of farm goods, both animal and vegetable 1) buckwheat mill house Šmajstrla – Frenštát pod Radhoštěm He buys all the raw materials and only process them and also the packing. 2) Unipar – hand made candles They buy all the raw materials including packages.

9. 6. Any marketing activities aiming at acquiring raw material and cooperation with recipients of final product 1) Buckwheat mill house Šmajstrla – Frenštát pod Radhoštem He has contracts with local farmers and final products are sold in own shop and big stores. 2) Unipar – hand made candles They import the hydrocarbon from Germany and they sale the candles all over the world.

10. 7. Showing significant production connections with foreign markets 1) Buckwheat mill house Šmajstrla – Frenštát pod Radhoštěm They don’t have. 2) Unipar – hand made candles A large part from final production are sold in Scandinavian countries, USA (Texas).

11. 8. Development of side activities such as agritourism and restaurants 1) Buckwheat mill house Šmajstrla – Frenštát pod Radhoštěm They are not related with that kind of activities. 2) Unipar – hand made candles They are not related with that kind of activities.

12. 9. The use of natural climatic and soil qualities in running a farming company within given area 1) buckwheat mill house Šmajstrla – Frenštát pod Radhoštěm The raw materials are bought from the local producers. 2) Unipar – hand made candles The raw materials are bought from Germany.

13. 10. The use of landscape qualities in running a farm and agricultural company 1) Buckwheat mill house Šmajstrla – Frenštát pod Radhoštem The raw materials are bought from the local producers. 2) Unipar – hand made candles This issue are not related with the business.

14. 11. The use of high quality products 1) Buckwheat mill house Šmajstrla – Frenštát pod Radhoštěm They obtain about 90% eco-products after the process. 2) Unipar – hand made candles All the products are sold like high quality ones.

15. 12. Reduction of unemployment in the local area due to creation of new workplaces (recently) 1) Buckwheat mill house Šmajstrla – Frenštát pod Radhoštěm Besides the family members they have two employees and they want to develop a storage area that involves other workers for constructions and maintenance. 2) Unipar – hand made candles From ten employees, four are family members.

16. Your opinion about visited place Advantages: - at the buckwheat mill they keep alive the tradition - they have foreign markets Disadvantages: - at buckwheat mill they don’t have enough storages - Unipar doesn’t use agricultural raw materials
