IntegralPeripheral Usually hydrophobic on the surface. Embedded in the hydrocarbon chains in the centre of the membrane. If they have hydrophilic parts, these will appear outside the membrane ( transmembrane ). Usually hydrophilic. Usually attached to the surface of the integral proteins.
