Best of British As one of the Collection of Villages by Value Retail, which includes Bicester Village, the original shopping tourism destination, Yi Ou Lai Suzhou is proudly celebrating its British heritage and enduring commitment to creativity and innovation with a Best of British Festival. To run from 25 March to 3 May the Festival will showcase the best of British fashion, food, film, music and art – the very heart of British culture. Best of British Spirit While often associated with wellington boots and rain, Britain and its garden spring to life at this time of year, transforming the country into a fusion of vibrant colours and new life. To capture this fresh injection of colour and energy, as our boutiques launch their new Spring / Summer collections, the Village will be transformed into a series of lush ‘British Cottage Gardens’ and ‘English Landscape Gardens’. The former has a design of informal mixture of flowers, herbs, and vegetables packed in rectangular boxes presenting grace and charm, while the more formal English Landscape Garden is one inspired by the classic Chinese gardens of the East with topiary dogs and artistically shaped trees. To further celebrate the arrival of the new season and all it has to offer, guests will receive a Best of British ‘passport’ on arrival, containing exclusive offers from a selection of brands including Dunhill, Cath Kidston, Hackett, Ted Baker and Vivienne Westwood. Guests can receive a Best of British pin after visiting all brand boutiques and collecting 7 stamps listed on the passport. For the shopaholic and lovers of leading British design, aside from additional savings and exclusive gifts available, they can also redeem an exclusive gift at the Welcome Centre with purchases totaling more than RMB3,000 on any given day.
Best of British Best of British Fashion Within the Yi Pavilion, the Village’s resident destination for curated shows featuring emerging artists and designers, there will be a fashion exhibition showcasing Best of British design and craftsmanship. Featuring leading British brands such as Hackett, Dunhill, Cath Kidston, Vivienne Westwood and Ted Baker, it will feature iconic signature pieces. Best of British Culture During the Festival guests to the Village will be greeted by Royal Guards and have the opportunity to take photographs in front of iconic British imagery and landmarks. They will be surprised by stylishly dressed street performers prancing down the streets adding to the quirkiness of being British, have the opportunity to play at being Royalty. Via Dei Nobili Street will be bestowed by hundreds of bowler hats to capture the spirit of quintessential Britain, while Via Degli Artigiani Street will be transformed into the scene of a traditional British street party, featuring the Best of British monogram flags. Best of British Food Throughout the Village there will be pop-up food stalls serving British food favorites including fish & chips, English breakfast tea flavour ice-cream by Vai Milano and many more. To wash that down, you can visit Pavilion Café by Mr. Harry, one of the most successful British Restaurants in Shanghai, where you can enjoy a traditional British pint of beer or a freshly brewed cup of English Breakfast tea.
Cath Kidston Inspired by nostalgic childhood memories of vintage England, Cath Kidston started designing her own brightly coloured patterns and applying them to modern, practical products. Twenty years on, Cath and her team still take inspiration from vintage finds, designing cheerful things that brighten up everyday life.
