Where is new jersey located and what are its natural regions and major cities?

3 New Jersey in the World Continent: one of the seven largest landmasses on Earth. New Jersey is in North America. New Jersey is in the United States.

4 New Jersey in the World Relative Location: where something is in relation to other places on Earth Compared to other states, New Jersey is: South of New York East of Pennsylvania North of Delaware Compared to bodies of water, New Jersey is: Southeast of the Hudson River West of the Atlantic Ocean East of the Delaware River North of the Delaware Bay Compared to major U.S. cities, New Jersey is: West of New York City East of Philadelphia

9 Where People Live New Jersey is one of the smallest states, but has one of the largest populations. Community Types: Urban: cities/large population Suburban: communities that surround cities/medium population Rural: countryside/small population

10 New Jersey’s Communities
Largest Urban area in NJ is the northeast. Major cities: Newark, Jersey City, Paterson, Bayonne Newark is the largest city. Trenton is the capital city. Southeast and Northwest corners of New Jersey are mostly rural. Popular vacation spots.

11 Social Studies Classwork
Color “United States Regions” map using the map key as a guide. Remember to use colored pencils. Complete the “Types of Communities” graphic organizer. Fill each section with pictures and words describing the community type. This will be collected for a classwork grade.
