We have analyzed the following aspects: the quality of the air in our city the fixed units in our region (such as in L’Aquila, Bussi sul Tirino, Chieti, Atessa) the fixed units in our city (such as in the area nearby our D’Annunzio Theatre) Banning car traffic in Pescara collecting data and comparing data
The bad air quality in cities is among the most critical enviromental problems in Italy. This is due to the fact that the largest percentage of the population lives in urban areas, where there is the greatest quantity of emission coming from traffic, domestic heating and productive activities.
Air quality monitoring is essential to check the quantity of air pollution that may endanger public health and vegetation.
requires the presence of instruments through which data are recorded and compared according to legislate standards of quality. Our region is responsable for protecting our environment from air pollution.
In Abruzzo the monitoring network consists in 11 fixed stations and 2 movable means of support. N° fixed stations movable means
These units are directly managed by: - ARTA (regional agency for enviromental protection) - the Provincial Department of Pescara
The Station At D’Annunzio’s Theatre, is directed by ARTA, and can detect metereological parameters (in addition to the normal atmospheric pollutants ), which are published daily on the ARTA website, such as: wind direction temperature humidity rainfall atmospheric pressure
One of the initiatives promoted by the Province of Pescara useful to alleviate pollution in our city, was closing streets to cars in some streets every Thursday from the 22/03/2012 to the 12/04/2012. Collected data, concerning five main areas in Pescara, were examined to monitor the general pollution in the area of our city. C.so V.
