There are numerous types of pronouns: subject, object, relative, etc. In this lesson you are going to be learning about object pronouns. What are the object pronouns in English? To me, to you, to him, to her, to us, to you (all/ plural) What are the object pronouns in French? me, te, nous, vous le*, la*, les, l’ *le, la, can replace a person (to her, to him) but these can also replace a thing (to it- feminine and to it- masculine as all nouns in French have a gender). Where are the object pronouns placed in a sentence in English? She is speaking to me. Where are the object pronouns placed in a sentence in French? Elle me parle.

The direct object answers the question who? or what? about the verb: I speak French. (Ask: I speak what? French—that is the direct object.) I buy the flowers. (Ask: I buy what? Flowers—that is the direct object.) I see you. (Ask: I see who? You—that is the direct object.) See if you can find the direct object in each of these sentences: She is speaking to me. They know her.
