Leonidas was a great warrior who put his men before himself. He was the king of sparta who led his troops in battle against xerxes and the Persian empire in the battle of thermopylae. The battle began when the persians asked Leonidas t and his men to hand over their weapons. Leonidas replied, “come and take them”.
Leonidas and his men were outnumbered and showed great courage even though they knew they would lose the battle. This courage gave inspiration to the greeks.
Leonidas died in the battle of thermopylae. He ordered most of his men to retreat while he stayed and fought a winless battle.
Leonidas is such a famous warrior in greek mythology that a movie was created based on his heroism.
Even today leonidas is celebrated in museums of greek mythology This is a statue of him with a greek in scripture that says “Come and take.”
